JOAN ARMATRADING RETURNS WITH
“INTO THE BLUES”

429 Records’ Release In Stores May 1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  “Baby when you sing the blues, I take all my clothes off, for you…”  So sings Joan Armatrading whimsically on “Play The Blues,” a track off of her stunning new recording, “Into The Blues.”  An all new collection of songs penned, produced and performed by a proven master of finely tuned, emotionally charged pop/rock, “Into The Blues” is Armatrading’s definitive take on the blues and all that entails.  429 Records will release “Into The Blues” on May 1st and Armatrading will tour the U.S. this summer.

Long recognized as a pioneering force as a woman in rock music, “Into The Blues” is a musical statement from a master songwriter and player.  From the shimmering pop tones of the opening track and first single  “A Woman In Love” to the discontented swagger of “Ain’t A Girl Alive” to the dark, cautionary mood of set closer “Something’s Gotta Blow,” Armatrading delivers her most confident, personal and musically accomplished work to date.  “Into The Blues” touches on many moods—emotions range from lighthearted to shockingly dark.  Her effortlessly expressive guitar work is a constant and exhilarating element throughout.   Joan also produced a rare video for “A Woman In Love”—currently streaming on www.429records.com (as well as “In These Times” from Lover’s Speak), You Tube or DVD copy is available at contact below.

“Into The Blues” is the CD I’ve been promising myself to write for a long time.  Recording it has given me so much pleasure and playing blues guitar—I adore it!” Says Armatrading.
